economic reasons that probably called in. They stand with the sorrow as
the children of a poor family. However, some of them do not wait until
grass growing under their feet, they go abroad in despair.
The illegal departure for promise land is a cruel way through starvation
and death, they insist to go along as they expect to see a rose at the end of
the dire narrow root.
Nowadays, many people wish not to mention their mourning memory in
those days, but some other one do wish to recall them as now they indulge
in happiness. They both have each own proper arguments, the people who
want to ignore is to term “forget to live better”, the others those want to
recall them are to emphasize “still alive, not to forget”
The American Vietnamese of the first generation now are almost old; they
seem to stay backstage to almost political and social activities. As to them,
the wounds are recovered after more than 30 years, their memories about
the refugee camps are mostly replaced by their daily hard surviving or
