Signs and symptoms
•
Weight gain.

Cold skin/cold intolerance.

Conservative: patient
education.
•
Medical: lifelong
replacement of
thyroid hormone
with levothyroxine.
Complications

Hypercholesterolaemia.

Complications in pregnancy,
e.g. pre-eclampsia.

Hyperthyroidism from
overtreatment of
hypothyroidism.
•
Myxoedema coma.
